overview
Bishop’s Gate Hotel is located in the heart of the Walled City of Derry, within the historic cathedral quarter. The building was initially built as two grand townhouses but was remodelled by renowned architect Alfred A. Forman in the latter part of the 19th Century in an Edwardian style, opening its doors in 1902 as a private members club called the Northern Counties.
The current day reincarnation highlights the exquisite work of Alfred A. Forman through the sympathetic restoration of the club and adjoining buildings on London Street yet incorporates the needs of a new century. This unique venue retains its character, period charms and historical splendour while retaining its purpose to provide a place to meet, eat & lay your head.
Originally an iconic base for businessmen and intellects of the city for many years, Bishop’s Gate Hotel continues its celebrated legacy as a place for great minds to discuss great ideas.
