As Britain’s original health spa, Tring was born from the initial vision of eccentric naturopath Stanley Lief, it has been a bastion of health since 1925. While remaining faithful to its beginnings, Champneys Tring has also moved with the times. As well as a variety of innovative yet traditional spa treatments, recent additions include the relaxation hideaway, manicure and pedicure salon and the Wellbeing and Detox Centre, which is the first of its kind in the UK. The once Rothschild family-owned estate – complete with Downton-esque driveway – is set in 170 acres of idyllic Hertfordshire countryside and is accessible in less than 45 minutes on the train from London Euston.
