Temple Island

A unique and enchanting venue, Temple Island marks the start of the Henley Royal Regatta course and is set on one of the most beautiful reaches of the River Thames. The Temple itself is a Georgian folly and houses the elegant Etruscan room, a wonderfully tranquil setting for corporate hospitality, wedding receptions or private parties.

Temple Island is available for hire during Regatta Week and throughout the year. The Temple was originally designed in 1771 as a fishing lodge. Inside, the walls are decorated with beautiful frescoes, creating a delightful atmosphere in which to entertain up o 40 guests for a formal luncheon, candlelit dinner or intimate wedding breakfast.
An elegant marquee can also be sited on the riverside lawns surrounding the building, allowing you to host an al fresco party for up to 120 guests.
The island is approached by boat, making guests’ visit to the Temple an even more memorable occasion. Wide choices of boats are available to suit all kinds of events
