One in four people suffer from mental health issues, however from a survey that was carried out, one in three people suffer from mental health issues within the hospitality and events industry. It’s a big issue. And in the latest step to raise awareness, Leigh Cowlishaw, Managing Partner at Black Box Partnerships & Winning Edges, EventWell Vice Chair, past Chair and current Board member of the HBAA is leading a board initiative of raising awareness of mental health in our industry. Having recently become a Mental Health First Aider; the HBAA have run open MHFA England accredited Mental Health First Aid Courses. Both members and non-members were able to train their staff to become qualified and receive a recognised qualification. meetingsclub caught up with Leigh to chat about Mental Health First Aid.
