overview
Comprising eight museums and art galleries in and around Liverpool, National Museums Liverpool offer a wide range of events and spaces against a unique backdrop of historic artefacts and world-class art. Each event that takes place within one of its venues is expertly curated by an in-house team, Hosted by National Museums Liverpool.
World Museum is the oldest of the museums and galleries in its portfolio, with origins dating back to the mid 1800s. It has now expanded to become one of the great museums of the British regions, with collections and displays of life sciences, earth sciences and human cultures from around the world, including a wonderful Ancient Egypt gallery. It’s also home to a fantastic planetarium and aquarium, both of which can be used for private events.
In addition to large galleries and versatile lecture theatre, World Museum also boasts three multi-functional event spaces across the ground floor. The spacious atrium, which offers an abundance of natural light, is adjoined to another historic part of the Museum, an area once part of the neighbouring Technical School of Liverpool which opened in 1901. Redevelopment of this area has allowed event facilities to be modernised while retaining the rich heritage of the building, bringing an area once hidden from public view back into use. A key feature of the redeveloped spaces are the impressive painted plasterworks which adorn its walls and ceilings, completed by sculptor Frederick William Pomeroy (1856-1924) and artist Robert Anning Bell (1863-1933).
Hosted by National Museums Liverpool have also recently acquired two new events spaces at the venue. The first is an intimate 20-capacity boardroom on the ground floor, perfect for small meetings and lunches, while the other is an impressive gallery with a capacity of up to 800 guests for a reception or 600 for dinner.
World-class catering is provided by Hosted by National Museums Liverpool's team of in-house chefs, who have the ability, skill and innovation to produce food completely unique to your event.
