overview

Two unique Grade II listed contemporary art galleries in Kensington Gardens, the Serpentine Gallery and the Serpentine Sackler Gallery present eight exhibitions per year.
Complementing the seasonal exhibitions programme is the acclaimed Pavilion commission – a temporary structure designed by a leading international architect who has not previously completed a building in England – which is sited on the Serpentine Gallery’s lawn each summer.
Open to the public Tuesday – Sunday 10am – 6pm, the spaces can be hired privately for breakfast and evening events, or full day events on a Monday.

directions

From Lancaster Gate Tube Station
Turn right out of the tube and walk a few metres to reach the pedestrian crossing where you will be able to cross to your left into the park. Follow the directions of the park's signs and take the path running along-side the fountains and the Serpentine Lake. After approximately 400 metres you will pass the Peter Pan statue on your right. Shortly after this the path forks, take the right hand path. From here the Serpentine Gallery should be visible. Continue along the path for 400 metres. Please note that the Park closes at dusk.

From South Kensington tube station
From the ticket hall at South Kensington follow the underpass signposted for the Science and Natural History Museums. Follow the underpass for approximately 400 metres to the last exit where you will emerge on to Exhibition Road. Turn left and continue up Exhibition Road, passing Imperial College on your left. At the top of Exhibition Road, the road continues into the park. Follow this, crossing over Kensington Gore, and continue along the road through the park, passing on the left in the distance, the Albert Memorial. After approximately 400 metres you will see the Serpentine Gallery on your left. After dusk please note that the only entrance to the Serpentine will be the third gate on the left as you walk along the road from Kensington Gore.

From Knightsbridge tube station
Take the Sloane Street exit from the platform, go through the ticket barriers and take the exit on your right up the stairs. Take the right exit at the top of the stairs to arrive at the corner of Brompton Road and Knightsbridge. Turn left and cross the road at the first set of lights to the Scotch House shop on the opposite corner. Walk straight ahead, along Knightsbridge, to the bus stop. You will then have two alternatives, you can either take a bus number 9, 10 or 52 to the Exhibition Road stop, or you can walk straight along this road for about 1 km. When you reach Exhibition Road, turn right, cross the road and walk into the Park , keeping on the left hand side of the road. The Gallery is about 150 metres from this junction on the left hand side. After dusk please note that the only entrance to the Serpentine will be the third gate on the left as you walk along the road from Kensington Gore.
