The exterior features two giant gilded owls (an established symbol of Leeds) and Roman columns at the entrance. Inside the hall, there are several great rooms such as the lavish Lord Mayor's room, lined with English walnut and Algerian marble. Meetings of the full council are held in the Grand Council Chamber.

The Civic Hall has rooms suitable for private dinners, from smaller more intimate affairs, to larger events for up to 220 guests. Events can be held in the Civic Hall by invitation only.
